A forum for participants of the Montreux Document on pertinent international legal obligations and good practices for states related to operations of private military and security companies during armed conflict.
The Montreux Document Forum organised avirtual workshop on the Montreux Document in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean on the 25th of March 2021 to improve awareness of the Montreux Document in the region and create networks among regulators. State representatives from the region, both in-capital and from permanent missions in Geneva attended the even.
The workshop showcased past activities and impact of the Montreux Document and its Forum in the region, highlighted the benefits of membership and of the implementation of the good practices contained in the Document.
PMSCs will undoubtedly continue to represent a fundamental pillar of the security system in Latin America and the Caribbean in the near future. For this reason, the Montreux Document Forum will continue its work of dissemination and recognition of the Montreux Document and its good practices in the region.
